Five people die in new Israeli bombings against the Nuseirat refugee camp in Gaza

April 11 (EUROPA PRESS) –

At least five people have died this Thursday due to a series of bombings carried out by the Israeli Army against the Nuseirat refugee camp, located in the center of the Gaza Strip, including an attack on a school located in the area.

Sources cited by the Palestinian news agency WAFA have indicated that a number of people have been injured in the attacks, which have hit a residential building located in the northern part of the camp, where two mosques have also been hit.

Likewise, they have stressed that Israeli Army battle tanks have broken into the camp from Saladino Street, which cuts the Strip from north to south, an operation in which Israel has also deployed helicopter gunships to attack targets in the area.

For their part, displaced people who are taking refuge in a school run by the United Nations Agency for Palestine Refugees in the Near East (UNRWA) in the camp have said in statements to the Palestinian news agency Maan that several classes and the playground have been hit by shrapnel, with no information on victims in the center.

The Israeli Army launched an offensive against Gaza in response to the attacks carried out on October 7 by the Islamic Resistance Movement (Hamas), which left some 1,200 dead and nearly 240 hostages. Since then, the Gazan authorities, controlled by the Islamist group, have reported the deaths of more than 33,400 people, to which are added around 450 Palestinians in the West Bank and East Jerusalem due to the actions of the security forces and the attacks of Israeli settlers.
