Five civilians killed in Israeli airstrikes on school housing displaced people in Gaza

September 15 (EUROPA PRESS) –

At least five Palestinian civilians were killed and an unknown number injured on Saturday after the Israeli army bombed a school in the south of Gaza City, in the center of the Strip.

Local sources have confirmed to WAFA news agency that the Israeli Air Force launched a strike targeting a school in the Al Zaitun neighborhood in southeastern Gaza City, killing five people and wounding an undetermined number.

The school has been turned into a shelter for displaced people since the Israeli army launched its military offensive on the Strip in response to the attacks by the Islamic Resistance Movement (Hamas) on October 7.

The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) has confirmed this and other attacks, saying that “terrorists operating in a command and control complex, previously used as a school” were inside.

The Hamas-controlled Gazan health ministry announced on Saturday that the offensive has so far claimed 41,182 lives and injured 95,280. In addition to these casualty figures, more than 630 Palestinians have been killed in the West Bank, including East Jerusalem, in operations by Israeli forces or in attacks by settlers since then.
