The Comptroller General of the Republic, Carlos Hernán Rodríguez Becerra, announced that in a Special Inspection Action for Medimás, a tax finding was established for $8,633 million, for which a preliminary investigation was opened for $842,449 million, for advances made by the EPS to its suppliersfrom August 1, 2017 to March 16, 2022.
(Affiliations in receiving EPS increased in the country between 2019 and 2022).
In the Action, advanced by the Comptroller Delegate for the Health Sector, a total of 4 administrative findings were constituted, of which apart from the fiscal finding and the facts that gave rise to a preliminary investigation, four have an alleged disciplinary incidence and another two incidents for transfer to the General Accounting Office of the Nation and Central Board of Accountants.
Since the verification carried out, and according to the information reported by the EPS in Liquidation, there was evidence of Irregularities in the legalization of advances caused from August 2017 to March 2022generating uncertainty about the administration, management and custody of the resources of the health system.
(Subsidies for electricity and gas bills will change due to new targeting).
The Comptroller’s Office identified inconsistencies and inaccuracies in the supports, specifically the invoices that support the provision of health services (service, technology or medicine), a situation that constituted a demonstration of irregular handling in the formalization of the advances subject to control.
