StudioCanal presents the first trailer for ‘Maria Callas‘, film directed by Pablo Larrain which narrates the last days of the life of the legendary soprano in Paris in the 70s. A celebration captured through memories, friends and, most importantly, through her privileged voice that has Angelina Jolie as the main protagonist.
Written by Steven Knight, the film follows a similar approach to other works by Larraín such as ‘Jackie‘ and ‘Spencer‘, exploring specific and emotionally charged moments in the lives of these iconic women.
The plot develops mainly around the singer’s final confinement, but using flashbacks that explore her complex personal relationships, such as the one she had with the Greek magnate Aristotle Onassis. The film delves into the contrasts of her life. While the world adored her for her voice, she privately struggled with her insecurities and stormy relationships.
It could be said that this film is the closing of Larraín’s trilogy about women who left an indelible mark on 20th century culture but who, despite their fame and success, faced enormous personal challenges.
Pierfrancesco Favino, Alba Rohrwacher, Haluk Bilginer, Valeria Golino and Kodi Smit-McPhee complete the main cast of ‘Maria Callas‘, a film directed by Pablo Larrain and written by Steven Knight that will hit cinemas on February 7, 2025 from Diamond Films.
