A new type of vehicle comes to the aid of firefighters. These are remotely controlled robots, which will soon be autonomous.
In recent years we have seen numerous robots carrying out tasks that are too frivolous, or unnecessary. Here we have a new kind of robot that really comes in handy. Even necessary, because it prevents firefighters from exposing themselves to risky situations.
the austrian company LUF has presented two firefighting robots capable of putting out fires from a distance of 100 meterswith great precision.
Since it is about unmanned vehicles they can get closer to the fire without problems, to put it out with more precision. And its technical characteristics are spectacular. You can see them in action in the opening image video.
The first of them is the robot LUF 300 SG, equipped with a spectacular water cannon capable of rotating 290 degrees, to point in any direction. Integrated hose can launch 4,000 liters of water per minute at a distance of 85 meters.
It also has a “fog” mode or Water curtainwhich spreads a kind of fine rain over a large area of land, to cover an entire house at a distance of 60 meters.
finally owns a fan mode that pushes the water with great forceputting out the fire by “crushing”, and by the air itself that is expelled along with the water.
The second robot has been recently presented. Its about LUF 300 HF. By using a pressure hose instead of a cannon, he outperforms his partner.
The LUF 300 HF is capable of pumping no less than 8,000 liters per minute, at a distance of more than 100 meters.
Another advantage of these robots is that they are small in size, so they can sneak through holes where a fire truck does not fit. They even have the ability to move and move cars.
LUF is already working on their conversion to autonomous vehicles. Surely very soon we will begin to see this type of firefighting robots in the fire brigades of numerous cities.
