Fighting erupts again in the capital of Sudan after the end of the truce on Saturday

June 11 (EUROPA PRESS) –

The capital of Sudan, Khartoum, is once again the scene of intense fighting this Sunday after the expiration of the 24-hour truce announced on Friday by the United States and Saudi Arabia in a statement in which they warned of their frustration at the constant failure of their efforts to mediation.

Residents of the capital have confirmed the resumption of hostilities to the pan-Arab media outlets Al Hadath and Al Arabiya.

Fighter planes are making raids from early morning on the city (approximately half an hour after the end of the armistice, around 05:00) and the fighting seems to affect the center of the capital and the neighboring city of Omdurman especially.

The US State Department announced on Saturday the beginning of the public dissemination of data collected by a partner platform for remote observation of the Sudanese conflict to denounce the violence carried out by both the Sudanese Army and the paramilitary Rapid Support Forces (RSF). .

This announcement came after Saudi Arabia and the US threatened in unison last Friday to abandon their mediation work if they perceived a violation of the ceasefire on Saturday, one of the calmest days in Khartoum since the start of the hostilities on April 15, until the resumption of the conflict this Sunday.
