It is a fact that EA Sports and FIFA broke up, so the legendary sports saga will drop that name. That said, there is still a new installment that will bear that title and it is about FIFA 23. We know little about this video game, but at least one of its covers has already been revealed and it is one that is making history.
Through social networks, Electronic Arts shared the first look at one of the covers of FIFA 23. Specifically, it is the cover that we will see in its Ultimate Edition, which will surely be the most expensive of all the editions of the soccer game.
Like last year, Kylian Mbappe, PSG’s French striker and who is shaping up to be the great soccer star for the next 10 years, appears as the cover athlete of FIFA 23. However, this time he is not alone, as he is accompanied by Sam Kerr, an Australian striker who plays for Chelsea and is one of the stars of the FA Women’s Super League in England.

With this, FIFA 23 is making history within the franchise. We say this because it is the first time that a women’s soccer star will be on the global cover of FIFA. Previously, United States Women’s National Team legend Alex Morgan graced the cover of FIFA 16, but only in the United States. In that same installment, Christine Sinclar appeared on the Canadian cover, while Steph Catley was the cover star for Australia.
It’s worth mentioning that Sam Kerr’s appearance on this cover is shaping up to be more than just a curiosity. We say this since, according to rumors, Electronic Arts has plans to offer a much more robust women’s soccer experience in FIFA 23. So maybe it’s the first sign that this will really happen.

Electronic Arts also revealed that it will be on July 20 at 11:00 AM, Mexico City time, when it makes the official reveal of FIFA 23. The revelation will be made in the next video that is about to be released.
