Feijóo accuses Sánchez of "pay homage to autocratic rulers" while the Ibero-American summit is being held

The president of the PP, Alberto Núñez Feijóo, has shown himself “very proud” this Saturday of “not paying homage to apprentice rulers of autocrats and truly autocrats” during his participation in the event ‘Europe is Hispanic’, in which he declared that these leaders “use their people not to improve and prosper, but to improve and prosper themselves.”

“I do not miss meeting with some leaders of the Spanish-American nations,” he pointed out, and he was “very proud” to be meeting “with the Hispanic-American people” in this act, which is held at the same time as the Ibero-American Summit in Dominican Republic, in which the President of the Spanish Government, Pedro Sánchez, is participating, as well as King Felipe VI and the High Representative for Foreign Policy of the EU, Josep Borrell.

Feijóo, who has been accompanied by the president of the Community of Madrid, Isabel Díaz Ayuso, and the mayor of Madrid, José Luis Martínez-Almeida, has declared that, “if the Government wanted”, they should take advantage of the current presidency of the European Union for six months to integrate Latin America into Europe.

“We can invest the current presidency in unity”, he added, urging to close “big agreements” and unite “the entire European Union with Argentina, Brazil or Uruguay”, creating “a market of more than 700 million people”.

The political leader has declared that Spain “has to be the fundamental bridge between Europe and Latin America” and that “it must be influential in the decisions of Europe in Latin America”, serving as a gateway to the institutions and markets of the rest of the EU. .

In addition, the ‘popular’ leader has promised to be “the president of all Hispanics in Spain” and has defended that the country “should be a permanent connection between the European Union and Latin America. “I am committed from the first moment and I assure you that I will not disappoint you,” he stressed.

Feijóo also explained during his participation in the act that he “does not believe in the politics of trenches or walls”, but in that of “shaking hands, looking into each other’s eyes and moving forward”. Along these lines, he pointed out that the change “that Spain needs” is to “abandon the trenches, the tension and unite on the path of the future”, emphasizing that “Hispanicity is, without a doubt, a bet on the past, on the present, but above all, for the future”.

The Government asks if “the king also meets autocrats”

The Government has harshly criticized the “ignorance” shown by the opposition leader questioning the presence of the Prime Minister at the Ibero-American Summit and has reminded him that King Felipe VI also participates in the meeting.

Government sources have reminded Feijóo that in Santo Domingo, in addition to Sánchez, there is also the head of state and the High Representative for Foreign Policy of the EU, Josep Borrell. “Is the king also meeting with autocrats?” The sources have had an impact, for which the words of the head of the opposition show “ignorance and irresponsibility.”

“It is an honor and a privilege” to be at this summit, sources have abounded, stressing that only Spain and Portugal are represented at these appointments by the head of state and the head of government. In its XXVIII edition, only thirteen heads of state have attended Santo Domingo.

On the other hand, the Government has also reminded Feijóo that the convening of the summit between the EU and the Community of Latin American and Caribbean States (CELAC), which will take place in July in Brussels, corresponds to the President of the Council, Charles Michel , as already happened with the one with the African Union in February 2022 under the French presidency and also in the European capital.

In this sense, they have highlighted the importance of this event taking place, since it has not been held since 2015, and that the EU also wants to get involved in closer relations with Latin America, one of the objectives that Spain has set for itself facing his current presidency of the bloc in the second semester.

Ayuso: “Sánchez’s favors to ETA are immoral”

For her part, the president of the Community of Madrid and the Madrid PP, Isabel Díaz Ayuso, has warned, in relation to the end of the dispersal of ETA prisoners, she has defended that “the favors” of the President of the Government, Pedro Sánchez , to the terrorist group “they are immoral”.

The ‘popular’ leader has also insisted that the President’s Executive and his “populist and separatist” partners are in charge of “selling the greatest immoralities as if they were advances”, as well as supporting their Government in the people who have committed “the most serious crimes”, among which he has indicated as “the worst” the one that threatens life, but has also referred to those directed “against the freedom, unity and coexistence of the institutions”.

“A government in coalition with those who carried out terror throughout Spain to break it and end democracy is badly carried out and now this government has just given the release and privileges to the members of the terrorist group ETA, which still has more than 300 crimes to be resolved and agrees that these terrorists are called political prisoners without anything happening because they sit at the same tables to negotiate”, warned Díaz Ayuso, who pointed out, however, that “there is something worse”, and it is “that a part of Spaniards that is not scandalized by the privileges that Sánchez grants to the tried and convicted terrorists”.

For Díaz Ayuso, those responsible for the Government “put everything at the service of power” and “weaken the institutions or the Judiciary” while making “ostentatious use of power and public money”, while “putting themselves under suspicion and it squeezes those who want to advance Spain by risking their heritage and that of their children”, in reference to the self-employed and small and large businessmen.

The Madrid president has also reproached the attacks that, in her opinion, this Executive suffers from “the free press”, which is forced to “work for the government project” at the risk, otherwise, of being “despreciated”.

An act with various MEPs and Latin rhythms

In the act of the PPE this Saturday there have been various interventions. One of the first to take the stage was pastor Yanira Maestre, who came, according to the organizers, to “bless the day.” “She has come to bless all those present and that we have a spectacular day,” said the presenter. The pastor, who has thanked the PP for her work, has asked “Mr. Jesus” that “both governments and Hispanics can celebrate the glorious Easter this year.” “Lord, bless our mayor, our president and Mr. Feijóo,” she added at the ceremony held in the San Blas district.

The king of the party has been Henry Mendez, the Latin singer known for songs like ‘el tiburón’, ‘rayos de sol’ or ‘desacatao’.

The popular Dolors Montserrat, Gabriel Mato, Esteban González Pons and José Luis Martínez Almeida have also intervened in the singular act.
