The National Federation of Educators (Fecode) announced new mobilizations throughout the country, which will take place this February 28that the same time that it will file a list of petitions to the State.
This was announced by the teachers’ association through an official statement: “On the occasion of the filing of the specifications approved by the national board and the requirement that the Government comply with what was agreed, a great national mobilization is called, both in Bogotá and in the capital cities, supporting what was defined by the board”.

This way, Fecode will also hold a meeting on the 27th and 28th of the same month at its main headquarters, located in the town of Teusaquillo, in Bogotá.
It will be in these meetings that the final details of the list of requests that the teachers’ union will make to the National Government will be polished, among which are the improvement in the health system for teachers, the stagnant promotions in the ranks of the teachers in the country; as well as the reform in the General Participation System, in order to attract more resources to the education sector.

This list of requests will also include the request to implement the single school day throughout the country, as well as the increase in the number of educators in educational institutions, among others.
Likewise, and in accordance with the point of dignifying the teaching work, the creation of a bill on the statute of the profession is sought, “establish the percentages to continue the salary leveling process for the years 2023 and 2024, and increase for the years 2023 and 2024”.

In health issues, Fecode also calls for the provision of services and employment contracts in institutions to be respected and guaranteed. In the same way, they ask for protection for those teachers who have been subjected to threats.
So far, the cities in which the demonstrations will take place are not known; However, it is expected that they will be presented in the main cities of the country, in which Fecode has more associates: Bogotá, Medellín, Cali, Barranquilla and Bucaramanga, among others.
