The executive director of OpenAI, Sam Altman, creator of the ChatGPT interfacealerted this Monday about a “strict regulation” of artificial intelligence (AI)which threatens to slow its development, although it recognized the need for long-term monitoring.
Altman defended in May before a United States congressional committee government intervention to regulate AI and said it was “key” to “limit the risks” associated with this technology.

Yesterday, however, he stressed that his call for more regulation was not directed at current systems. “I think that strict regulation of this sector or trying to slow down this incredible innovation would be a mistake.”, he declared at the University of Tel Aviv, in Israel.
Altman recognized that the risk of a Misused “superintelligence” was real.
“It is something that we will have to face perhaps throughout the next decade and that does not leave a lot of time for the world’s institutions to adapt,” he said.

The American businessman’s visit to Israel is part of his world tour, which seeks to reassure about the implications of AI and advocate for a regulation that is not too restrictive for his business.
