Explosion in building in Montevideo leaves ten injured

An explosion in a building in the Uruguayan capital, Montevideo, left ten people injured on Friday, two in serious condition, and damage to the surroundings, said health authorities and firefighters, who have not yet identified the reason for the incident.

The explosion occurred in the morning in the Villa Biarritz neighborhood, located near the coast of the Uruguayan capital.

“There was great damage and a series of victims, two of whom were seriously injured and are already hospitalized (…) and the rest were of different entities, most fortunately minor,” reported José Antonio Rodríguez, general director of the Response System. of emergency.

According to the police, the two people who are in serious condition are due to burns and carbon monoxide inhalation.
