EXPLORA UNESCO Quota 2023: Special admission route to the University


Cupo Explora-UNESCO is a special admission route to higher education through which different institutions offer vacancies so that young people with a scientific school career can study any career that is in agreement with Cupo Explora-UNESCO.

This initiative is born from the joint work between the UNESCO Chair, constituted through the University of Santiago and the Explora Program, and seeks to guarantee inclusive access to higher education, recognizing the school’s scientific trajectory in initiatives of the Explora program of graduate students. of secondary education between the years 2020 and 2022, offering them a special admission quota to higher education in different universities. The students who apply for this benefit must have participated for at least 1 year in activities of the Explora Research and School Innovation program and/or Explora Congresses.

This access road offers special quotas to various careers of 18 universities in agreement, throughout the country. Explora UNESCO Cupo is a possibility to access the university through a special admission, but it does not commit any type of financing or scholarship.

Requirements to apply

To apply for the Explora-UNESCO Quota, applicants must meet the following requirements:

  1. Having participated for at least 1 year in any of the following activities of the Explora program: Research and Innovation in Schools (IIE), Academies, Clubs, school research, Explora Congresses (they can be Provincial Congresses, Regional Congresses and/or National Congress).
  2. Have graduated in 2020, 2021 or 2022 from high school.
  3. Take Higher Education Access Tests:
    a) Have taken the Transition Test (PDT) during the year 2021 and/or July 2022 and/or:
    b) Be enrolled in the Higher Education Access Test (PAES) to apply at the end of 2022.

The possibility of submitting, as an additional complement to the application (optional, not exclusive), a motivation letter is included.

The process:

  1. Background check
  2. Publication of the list of enabled and disabled. Qualified students are those who meet all the requirements.
  3. The universities contact the students and implement tests or other selection mechanisms (if the university stipulates it).

Enrollment process admission 2022

For the 2022 process, 32 students were enrolled in 10 of the 18 universities with a collaboration agreement. Of which, 40.6% are men and 59.4% are women.
