In this video, the Executive Secretary of ECLAC, José Manuel Salazar-Xirinachs, presents the main conclusions of the organization’s annual report “International Trade Outlook for Latin America and the Caribbean 2022”.
The report, released on Tuesday, January 10, 2023, indicates that exports of goods from Latin America and the Caribbean increased 20% in 2022, although they grow less than the previous year (27% in 2021).
“The prospects for world trade for 2023 are not auspicious, due to the persistence of the conflict in Ukraine, the tightening of monetary policies, the slowdown of the world economy, the energy crisis in Europe and the worsening of the pandemic in China”, says the senior United Nations official.
