Listen, devout Sunday salsa (ahem, dip) film lovers, “old-school Italians” and fans of stand-up comedy.
Sebastian Maniscalco has just announced that he will extend his current contract ‘It’s Not Okay’ Tour through 2025 with new stadium dates across North America.
On the second leg of his national tour, the 51-year-old comedian will arrive in Brooklyn. Barclays Center March 7, Newark, New Jersey Prudential Center March 8th and Belmont Park, NY UBS Stadium March 15th.
This year, he is scheduled to play five (!) consecutive concerts at New York City Hall. Madison Square Garden from September 18 to 22, giving it the title of the most consecutive performances at the venue. and the most shows ever performed by a comedian, and then falling at Albany’s MVP Stadium October 3rd, Rochester Cruz Azul Stadium November 15th, Buffalo KeyBank Center November 16th and Syracuse In the center on November 17th.
“The production is very different than what I’ve seen in the past,” Maniscalco shared with celebrity.land in an exclusive interview about the tour. “What I decided to do was reconfigure the stage and lower it down a little bit more in case I want to get on stage and come back. It’s a more intimate environment for me as a performer.”
In every show, Maniscalco highlights the absurdities of modern life, such as nonexistent manners, rising prices, and the chaos of spending every waking moment on social media.
“Comedy is something that people crave and thirst for, especially with a political campaign on the horizon and people so divided,” he added. “My comedy is rooted in family and observation, and I’ve always believed that if people come to see a comedy show it’s because they want to escape from the news of the world, the murders, the politics, this, that and the other. That’s what I pride myself on.”
The ‘It Ain’t Right’ shows will also tackle pop culture (something that’s not common for the comedian), along with content that’s sure to resonate, regardless of whether you’re Italian or not.
“I once made a movie about going to an Italian wedding with cash, and when I was in the editing room, I thought, ‘I don’t know if I want to keep this in the special because I’m not sure if the broader audience…“But I discovered from online comments that this resonated with people who came from Greek families or other cultures. From there, I realized that I can talk about my personal life, my Italian father from Sicily, and my culture to the masses.”
