Black mirrorThe dystopian series about the influence of technology in an increasingly imminent future created by Charlie Brooker will return in 2025 with a seventh season.

Netflix has already revealed a good number of signings for the new fiction installment, which will feature, among others, Paul Giamatti (Those Who Remain) and Emma Corrin (The Crown).

To announce their signings, Netflix has released a brief teaser in which the names appear as if they were part of a programming code. Along with Giamatti and Corrin, also joining the installment will be Awkwafina (Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings), Milanka Brooks (Gun Shy), Peter Capaldi (Doctor Who), Patsy Ferran (Earth of God), Lewis Gribben (The Lords of the Air), Osy Ikhile (Citadel), Rashida Jones (Silo), Siena Kelly (Temple), Billy Magnussen (No Time to Die), Rosy McEwen (Vesper), Cristin Milioti (The Penguin), Chris O’ Dowd (The Cloverfield Paradox), Issa Rae (American Fiction), Paul G. Raymond (Deadpool and Wolverine), Tracee Ellis Ross (American Fiction), Jimmi Simpson (Westworld) and Harriet Walter (Silo).

Everything you need to know about Black Mirror season 7

The seventh season, which is already in production, will consist of six episodes and one of the few details that are known is that one of them will be a sequel to episode 4×01, titled USS Callister. At the moment, nothing more has been revealed about the characters of the new actors, beyond those who will repeat from USS Callister, nor details about the plot of the new installments of Black Mirror.

USS Callister stars Jesse Plemons as Robert Daly, a brilliant programmer and co-creator of a popular video game. Unhappy with the apparent lack of recognition at his gaming company, Robert creates a simulated reality within the game, casting himself as a Star Trek Captain Kirk-like figure aboard a starship and leading a crew. However, the journey takes an unexpected and sinister turn.

Neither The Body on Fire nor The Rosa Peral Tapes answer the question of why?

“The USS Callister will return… Robert Daly is dead, but for the crew of the USS Callister, their troubles are just beginning,” said a teaser shown at Netflix’s See What’s Next event in London.

“We’re doing some things we haven’t done before,” Brooker told Deadline of season 7. “People can expect a lot of thrills and hopefully a good mix of chills. We did a couple of horror stories in season 6, which we labelled Red Mirror. But this time, every episode is, in a way, like the original Black Mirror. I wrote a script and the general consensus was that it was one of the hardest, darkest shocks yet. There are also technical episodes and ones that make people cry. So hopefully it will be a full-on emotional exercise, but we’ll see. The viewers will be the judge.”
