Everyone is waiting for Windows 10 to die… except possibly you

A study shows an increase in computer sales since Microsoft announced the end of Windows 10, but this is not the only reason.

The computer market is experiencing accelerated change with the arrival of the 24H2 version of Windows 11. Some devices will no longer be compatible due to hardware requirements and users are looking for new options to continue using this operating system.

This occurs at a time when Windows 10 has achieved one of its best market shares with almost 70% of users. The transition to Windows 11 will be slow, but it may have an impact on sales.

A study of Canalys has analyzed the market in the United States and has determined that PC sales grew by 5% in the first quarter of 2024 compared to the same period last year.

This figure translates into a increase of 78 million units or 8% growth by 2025. Continuous discounts after the Christmas season have boosted sales in the United States, although an uptick in purchases by small and medium-sized businesses has also been detected.

Windows 10 is not the only one responsible for the increase in sales

Microsoft will end the useful life of Windows 10 on October 14, 2025. The company is committed to the user experience with advanced AI functions with version 24H2, which will not be able to run on many computers.
