Between Wednesday and Thursday, the tremor record continued with moderate to low amplitude, according to the Center for Disaster Prevention of Mexico in its report of the night of May 24, the most recent official report.

“In the last 24 hours, through the monitoring systems of the Popocatépetl volcano, 10 exhalations, 2 explosions, 1066 minutes of tremors and a volcanotectonic earthquake were detected,” says Cenapred.

“The prevailing weather conditions in the area do not allow visibility towards the volcano, however, it has occasionally been possible to observe an emission of steam and gas with a low ash content.”

The Scientific Advisory Committee of the Popocatépetl volcano met again on Wednesday and recommended keeping the Volcanic Alert Light in Yellow phase 3.

In the early hours of Thursday there have been fewer updates from the authorities than in previous days, while the activity of the volcano has “calmed down”, as President Andrés Manuel López Obrador said on Wednesday, and there is less emission of ash.
