Equatorial Guinea advances the presidential elections to November 2022

Sep. 9 (EUROPA PRESS) –

The Parliament of Equatorial Guinea has approved advancing the presidential elections to next November, instead of in the first quarter of 2023, when they were scheduled, to make them coincide with the legislative and municipal elections.

The justification for this change is found in the context of “significant economic restrictions” facing the country, as reported by ‘Royal Equatorial Guinea’.

This decision, taken by the National Parliament in its two Chambers, the Upper and Lower, has already been notified to the country’s president, Teodoro Obiang Nguema.

All in all, the 18 legalized political parties in Equatorial Guinea will have less than four months to prepare for the elections.
