Epic Games will conquer mobile gamers with gifts

Epic Games will give away games in its mobile store very soon

The Epic Games Store has grown significantly in recent years amid successes and a few controversies. The store has been constant in one aspect: the free games that arrive week after week and that sometimes become daily gifts during special seasons.

This strategy has worked well for Epic Games, as it keeps PC players returning to its store to claim games and then using its services to enjoy them.

Now that the Epic Games Store has arrived on mobile phones after a legal fight against Apple and Google, the developer will repeat the strategy and will also begin to give away games for said devices. For now there is no exact date, but we know that the free titles will begin to arrive between October and December.

“The free games program will launch in the fourth quarter along with the [primeras] “Third-party apps that are going to come out, and we’re going to have amazing things for players, which are also going to be amazing for developers because they’re going to help us scale very quickly,” Allison said.

With this, the company wants to attract the attention of players and make them notice that the Epic Games Store is a great alternative to the Google Play Store or the Apple App Store. This is how it plans to gain market share and have a stronger community.

The manager explained that, for the Christmas season, his mobile store will have between 10 and 50 third-party applications. One of the first confirmed is ARK: Ultimate Mobile Edition. As for free games, it is not known what the first titles in the program will be.

Finally, Epic Games announced a self-distribution strategy for mobile games, where it will give greater percentages of game sales and internal purchases made in them to developers. Likewise, the company is willing to waive its commission for 6 months if the studios bring their games to the store exclusively during the same period.
