1 Jul. (Portaltic/EP) –
epic has announced that it is already finalizing the arrival of Fortnite on iPhone through the Epic Games Store, by sending both the title and the official store to Apple as part of the notarization process required to formalize the launch.
Since the launch of the Digital Markets Act (DMA) in the European Union, the company is obliged to allow parallel downloading of services, so that users can install applications from third-party platforms. It must also offer payment gateways external to its own, so that developers can conveniently incorporate their own payment methods.
One of the main beneficiaries of this regulation will be Epic Games, which faced the tech giant years ago for introducing an alternative payment system to that of the App Store, thus avoiding paying the fee that Apple required for offering its services. That caused the first to delete all its applications from the platform.
After suspending Epic Games’ development account at the beginning of March, Apple has committed to the European Commission (EC) to reinstate it in order to move forward “as planned” with the launch of the Epic Games Store on iOS devices.
The developer has now announced that it has submitted its official app store and Fortnite to Apple as part of the “required notarization process,” as indicated in its profile. X (formerly Twitter).
On the other hand, he recalled that the launch of the Epic Games Store and Fortnite will occur “in the coming months” on iPhone in the European Union (EU) and that he plans to bring his games to other mobile application stores. “We want to talk to all the stores that offer excellent conditions to all developers,” he stressed.
