Microsoft announced a round of updates some time ago that would make the Xbox the first consoles to have information about carbon dioxide levels of the area in which they are located to be able to schedule their updates and downloads accordingly.
Specifically, the Xbox will work more often when the electricity to our house is supplied by renewable sources, such as wind or solar, while it will work as little as possible when sources such as gas or coal are being used, in order to improve air quality.
As can be read in Microsoft marketing materials, for every two consoles that use this system to shut down completely for a year, the equivalent in carbon dioxide emissions is saved that a tree can absorb in a decadea significant figure and that can be important considering the number of these consoles that have been sold.
It is to be hoped that the next updates for our consoles will make these modes available to us.so it could be said that, in addition to the classic reasons of stability and security that software updates provide, we should upgrade our Xbox as much for our sake as for the planet.
