Enagás plans to invest 4,755 million until 2030 with new interconnections

Enagas will invest 2,775 million euros in the 2022-2030 period, an amount that would rise to 4,755 million to carry out three gas interconnections foreseen in the Repower Plan EU to increase the resilience of the European gas system. According to the 2022-2030 strategic plan, which Enagás published this Tuesday in the National Securities Market Commission (CNMV), these interconnections would be the third Pyrenean Connection, the Spain-Italy submarine gas pipeline and the third connection with Portugal.

The Spain-Italy submarine gas pipeline is the one that would receive the greatest investment, with 365 million in the period 2022-2026 and 1,135 million in 2027-2030. Of the total of 2,775 million euros of investments planned by Enagás, not counting the interconnections of the EU Repower Plan1,300 million would be made in the 2022-2026 period and 1,475 million in 2027-2030.

If the investments of the Repower EU Plan are computed, which are in the proposal and approval phase by European regulators, of the planned 4,755 million, 1,980 million would correspond to the first period and 2,755 million to the second. interconnection projects would be incorporated by the company once the proposal and approval process is completed.

Investments corresponding to Repower EU amount to 1,980 million throughout the plan period (1,680 million until 2026 and 1,300 million in 2027-2030). On the other hand, 855 million euros are allocated to investments in natural and transition gas (470 million euros in the first period and 380 million in the second).

Those corresponding to renewable hydrogen infrastructures would amount to 690 million (235 million in the first period and 455 million in the second), while in international assetswhich will focus on Europe, amount to 600 million (150 million in the first period and 450 million in the second).

In the case of the subsidiary Enagás Renovable, it will allocate 205 million euros to 30 renewable hydrogen production projects throughout the period of the plan (135 million in the first period, 2022-2026, and 70 million in the second, 2027-2030). In addition, Enagás Renovable plans to invest 85 million euros (35 million in the first period and 50 million in the second) in twenty biomethane production projects.
