As the calendar is about to close on 2024, most people are looking to the future to see what 2025 has in store for us.

While no one has a crystal ball, there are a few things we know for sure about the coming year, and if you live in the Elmira area, there’s sure to be plenty of entertainment and special events designed to brighten your day.

And if you enjoy the outdoors, there is good news for you too.

Here are some things to expect in and around Elmira in 2025:

LECOM Event Center

The LECOM Event Center (formerly First Arena) in downtown Elmira is known for hockey, but it also has some special events planned for the coming months. On February 16, country music singer Scotty McCreery will perform, along with special guest, fellow country singer Spencer Crandall. If you’re looking for a laugh, the Bored Teachers comedy tour will perform at 7:30 p.m. on April 4 downtown. For tickets and more information, call the LECOM Event Center at 607-734-7825 or visit lecomeventcenter.com.

Clemens Center

The Clemens Center for Performing Arts in Elmira will offer its series of Broadway shows in 2025. Among the offerings, the hit musical “Addams Family” will be presented at 7:30 p.m. on January 21 and 22. Future performances include “Clue” at 7:30 p.m. March 18 and 19. The hit murder mystery is based on the 1985 film and a classic board game. “Dear Evan Hansen” is a Tony Award-winning musical that will be presented at 7 p.m. on April 21 and 22. Several other shows are in the works, including “The Wizard of Oz on Ice” on March 13. For tickets and other information, call 607-734-8191 or visit clemenscenter.org.

Tanglewood Nature Center

For people looking to spend time outdoors when the weather warms up again, Tanglewood Nature Center in Elmira offers its Canopy Walkway, a 900-foot, handicap-accessible trail suspended 70 feet above the ground. The nature center secured a $1 million federal grant last summer to fund construction of the walkway, which will offer new views of the treetops and Palisades Cliffs of the Chemung River. For more information about the Canopy Walkway and other features of Tanglewood Nature Center, call 607-732-6060 or visit tanglewoodnaturecenter.com.
