Elden Ring has managed to exceed 20 million copies worldwide between physical distribution and digital sales, according to announced publisher Bandai Namco and developer FromSoftware (Dark Souls, Armored Core, Bloodborne, Sekiro). The role-playing and action title reaches this figure within reach of a few years after its debut on PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series and PC via Steam.

Elden Ring began its journey in February 2022 selling 12 million units in less than three weeks, a figure that at that time was compared to the more than 10 million that Dark Souls III, until then it was the biggest commercial success in the history of FromSoftware, it had managed to place between 2016 and 2020. In August Elden Ring had managed to reach 16.6 million copies and since then it has added 3.4 million more units to reach 20 million. This is a figure that is not within everyone’s reach.

During its first year Elden Ring has not only been successful in stores. Players and critics consider it one of the best games of 2022 and the awards have proven it. Elden Ring has been voted the best game of the year by Steam users and in this same category it beat God of War Ragnarok at The Game Awards 2022 gala. Now it will fight to repeat the award at the DICE Awards 2023 and the Game Developers Choice Awards 2023, the industry and developer awards, respectively.

“Bandai Namco and FromSoftware are pleased to announce that Elden Ring, the action role-playing game they have developed together, has distributed more than 20 million copies worldwide,” the publisher and developer said in a joint statement. “Since its launch on February 25, 2022, Elden Ring has continued to spark theories and debate as Lightless from around the world explored the Middle Lands, piecing together characters and events, and revealing lore. deep and mysterious.

“The game was warmly received by gamers and critically acclaimed, receiving numerous awards throughout the year. Both Bandai Namco and FromSoftware are very grateful to each and every player who stepped into this world,” the statement concluded.
