June 27 (EUROPA PRESS) –
At least eight alleged members of the terrorist group Hayat Tahrir al Sham (HTS) in new bombardments carried out by Russian planes against the Syrian province of Idlib, located in the northwest of the country, as reported on Tuesday by the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights.
The body, based in London and informants in the Arab country, has indicated on its website that the dead are members of the Hamza Brigade, affiliated with HTS, before adding that the target of the attack was a “military headquarters” of the terrorist group in Jabal al-Zawiya, in the south of Idlib.
Likewise, it has pointed out that Russian planes have also carried out bombardments in the surroundings of the towns of Sarjá and Jabal al Arbain, also located in Idlib, without any information on victims for the moment.
The attacks have been perpetrated just two days after the death of around ten people as a result of a bombardment attributed to Russian planes against a vegetable market on the outskirts of the Syrian city of Yisr al Shughur, in Idlib, an event that also left about 30 wounded.
The Syrian Civil Defense organization, known as the ‘white helmets’, indicated that all the victims were civilians, while the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights stated that they were six civilians and three members of armed rebel groups.
HTS, a terrorist organization inherited from the Al Nusra Front – which was once a subsidiary of Al Qaeda in Syria – is the most relevant armed group in the province of Idlib, which remains outside the control of the Syrian authorities. In Idlib, various armed groups also operate with the support of Turkey, which has also deployed soldiers in this province.
