Eight dead and 11 injured after a double Russian bombing of a hospital in the Ukrainian city of Sumi

At least eight people died and 11 were seriously injured in two Russian attacks on a hospital in Sumiin the northeast of Ukrainethis Saturday morning.

The Ukrainian Prosecutor’s Office assures that at the time of the attacks, 86 patients and 38 staff members were in the hospital.

“According to the latest data, 8 people were killed and 11 seriously injured as a result of the enemy’s attack with Shakhed type drones against the city of Sumi,” reported the local regional military administration.

The first attack, carried out by Shahed kamikaze drones, killed at least one person and caused several floors of the building to collapse, Ukrainian Interior Minister Igor Klimenko reported on his Telegram channel.

According to the minister, just after firefighters and police arrived to assist in rescue operations and with the evacuation of patients and staff, Russia launched another drone attack against the site, killing at least five people, including a police officer.

Two Shahed drones hit the hospital in the second attack and another attacked the residential sector of the city, the Ukrainian air force revealed.

The president of Ukraine, Volodymyr Zelenskyhas confirmed the attacks in which eight people have died. “Everyone who talks about this war in the world should pay attention to the places where Russia is attacking. “They are attacking hospitals, civilian targets and human lives.”Zelensky said on his Telegram channel.

“Only force can force Russia to peace. Peace through strength is the only correct path.”

An alleged video of the attack that appeared on Ukrainian social media shows an explosion occurring just as a group of people, including a person in a wheelchair, entered what appears to be a bomb shelter.
