A debate between candidates for the Venezuelan opposition presidential primary lasted more than two hours, in which eight candidates presented their ideas on Wednesday, July 12.
The event that Henrique Capriles, one of the key figures of this competition, did not attend, served to make proposals about the recovery of democracy and the Venezuelan economy.
The debate also served to show a fundamental difference on what political strategies to choose to face a candidacy for the reelection of Nicolás Maduro: from the consensus in classifying the Venezuelan government as a dictatorial system to the diatribe in case there is a willingness to negotiate a candidacy in the event that the national institutions disqualify whoever wins the opposition primary.

Promote the rules of citizenship
The favorite of the contest, according to all the surveys, was the former deputy María Corina Machado. In her opinion, what should be chosen in October is not a candidate, but a leader.
He affirmed that one cannot play with the rules imposed by the ruling party, but rather promote those of the citizenry, and ratified that whoever wins the opposition competition should be the only one called upon to face Nicolás Maduro in 2024.
