The Second Indonesia-Africa Forum (IAF), which will take place in Nusa Dua, Bali, from 1 to 3 September 2024, is designed to serve as a catalyst for change, where ideas and concepts are expected to be put into practice. Agreements reached during the Indonesia-Africa Forum will take the form of outcomes, which can be put into practice and have a direct impact.
Priority sectors include economic transformation, energy and mining, food security, healthcare and development cooperation.
Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Indonesia Pahala Nugraha Manshury stressed that the 2nd FAI goes beyond mere ideas; it is about carrying out concrete measures that yield results.
“It is estimated that the private sector and state-owned companies will reach deals worth US$3.5 billion, or approximately Rp58 trillion. We hope that this forum will not only discuss plans to build cooperation between Indonesia and Africa, but also produce concrete plans, given the immense potential that can be developed between the two,” he said on Thursday (August 29, 2024) in Jakarta.
Rwanda’s first ambassador to Indonesia, Abdul Karim Harerimana, expressed a similar sentiment, saying the 2nd FAI will also serve as a platform for exchanging ideas to address development issues.
The first major Indonesian business forum in Latin America will be held
His Excellency Paul Kagame, President of Rwanda, will address the forum to share the experiences of African countries, and Rwanda in particular, in improving international development cooperation.
This is expected to strengthen bilateral relations between Indonesia and Rwanda, as well as with other African countries as a whole. “Their attendance, along with that of other African leaders, is expected to deepen bilateral and multilateral relations and open up opportunities for closer and mutually beneficial collaboration,” Abdul said.
In addition to the President of Rwanda, six other African Heads of State will attend the 2nd IAF, including the President of Liberia, HE Joseph Boakai; the President of Ghana, HE Nana Akufo-Addo; the Prime Minister of Eswatini, HE Russell Mmiso Dlamini; the President of Zanzibar representing Tanzania, HE Hussein Ali Mwinyi; and the Vice President of Zimbabwe, HE Constantine Chiwenga.
“We hope that this forum will not only discuss plans to build cooperation between Indonesia and Africa, but will also produce concrete plans.”
The FAI serves as a primary platform for Indonesia and African countries to enhance bilateral relations, formulate strategic measures and collaborate to address increasingly complex global challenges.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Indonesia underlines its strong commitment to establishing a stable bridge of collaboration with African countries. The 2nd FAI is expected to generate new agreements and ideas in a spirit of togetherness, thus forging a brighter future for generations to come.
