ECLAC will present new projections of foreign trade in Latin America and the Caribbean in 2024

The Economic Commission for Latin America and the Caribbean (ECLAC) will release its annual report next Wednesday, October 23 International Trade Outlook for Latin America and the Caribbean, 2024: Reconfiguration of global trade and options for regional recovery. In this report, ECLAC examines the evolution of foreign trade in the region’s economies during the first half of this year and presents its projections of exports and imports of goods and services for the entire year.

The new edition of the document consists of three chapters. The first analyzes the recent situation and prospects for trade at a global and regional level; The second addresses the links between trade and food security in the region; and the third examines the potential of services to boost exports from Latin America and the Caribbean. According to the report, in 2024 the region’s goods exports will recover after falling slightly in 2023, while services exports will complete their fourth consecutive year of growth at double-digit rates.

The presentation of the report, prepared each year by the International Trade and Integration Division of ECLAC, will be held through a hybrid press conference (in-person and virtual) at the organization’s headquarters in Santiago, Chile, at 11:00 am local (UTC/GMT -3:00), which will be headed by the Executive Secretary of the organization, José Manuel Salazar-Xirinachs.
