ECLAC presents its Overview of Productive Development Policies in LAC within the framework of the Caribbean Development Round Table (CDR)

On Tuesday, September 10, 2024, within the framework of the eighth meeting of the Caribbean Development Round Table (CDR), the Economic Commission for Latin America and the Caribbean (ECLAC) presented its recent report entitled “Overview of Development Policies Productive Development in Latin America and the Caribbean, 2024: How to promote the great productive transformation that the region requires? This event, inaugurated by the Executive Secretary of ECLAC, José Manuel Salazar-Xirinachs, took place in Port of Spain, Trinidad and Tobago, and highlighted the importance of adopting a new vision for productive development policies (PDPs) in the Caribbean region.

At the meeting, Marco Llinás, director of the Productive and Business Development Division of ECLAC, was in charge of presenting the document, which includes more than 80 practical recommendations aimed at improving and scaling productive development policies in Latin America and the Caribbean. These recommendations, organized into seven axes of action, have the main objective of guiding the countries of the region in their process of productive transformation, promoting sustainable and inclusive growth.

The report presented includes a comprehensive set of proposals that address the structural challenges faced by countries in the region. The recommendations raised are focused on strengthening productive diversification, promoting innovation, improving competitiveness, and increasing regional and international integration.
