PlayStation left the E3 years ago because he could present his games of the year at his own online conference called State of Play. The other two large companies in the video game industry were the ones that shaped this great video game event; however, Nintendo and Xbox questioned their participation in the 2023 edition.
After a long wait and many coordinations that did not come to fruition, it has been confirmed that E3 2023 has been cancelled. This was announced in an official statement from the organizers.
“ReedPop and the Entertainment Software Association (ESA) have announced that both the digital and physical versions of E3 2023 have been cancelled.”, reads the publication of the official E3 Twitter account.
Confirmed event details
The event had already separated the dates from June 13 to 16 for the great event that would bring together the world’s most important developer companies to announce the most anticipated games for this and the following years. It was to take place at the LA Convention Center in Los Angeles, California.
Nintendo, Xbox, Ubisoft and Sony were the companies that announced that they would not participate. In the case of the first two, they only indicated that confirmation was pending. Everything seems to indicate that after the departure of the most relevant companies in the market, the others simply gave up.
The renowned video game journalist Geoff Keighley left a heartfelt message for all his followers on social networks, since E3 meant a lot to him.
“Here’s my 15 year old self at the first E3 in 1995. E3 meant a lot to me and a lot of you too. Four years ago, I realized that E3 was not evolving the way it needed to compete in a global digital world. So we begin to build what follows. Watch @summergamefest June 8“, wrote.
