Duda visits Ukraine on the same day as the Crimean Platform summit
Aug. 23 () –
Polish President Andrzej Duda arrived in kyiv on Tuesday morning, where he is scheduled to meet with his Ukrainian counterpart, Volodimir Zelensky, to discuss Poland’s support for Ukraine in military, economic, humanitarian and political terms.
Both leaders will discuss during their meeting “decisive restrictive measures” against Moscow, as well as humanitarian actions to help the country and the military support that “the country needs to defend itself from Russian aggression,” according to the PAP news agency.
This meeting between the presidents takes place within the framework of the telematic celebration of the Crimean Platform summit, whose objective is to discuss the annexation of the peninsula in 2014 in the international arena, especially as a result of the war between Russia and Ukraine.
In fact, the Polish Presidency has informed that Duda will participate in the deliberations on the Crimean Platform. “It refers to the format in which democratic countries support Ukraine in preserving its territorial integrity and internationally recognized borders,” Polish Chief of Staff Pawel Szrot said.
The summit, whose co-organizers are 24 members of the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe (OSCE), will be attended by members of international human rights NGOs, as well as world leaders from governments and organizations from around the world, such as the Secretary General of NATO, Jens Stoltenberg.
The initiative was launched after the Council of Europe report in May 2022 in which it analyzed the humanitarian and rights situation on the peninsula, concluding that Moscow promotes a “rooted culture” of human rights violations in Crimea.
