The first free update for Dredge will arrive in May and will add markers to the map, one of the most requested features by the community, according to Black Salt Games. This feature will allow players to add markers on the map with a series of colored icons representing hazards, shipwrecks, mysteries, and more. This feature will make it easier to navigate between locations. This update will also include a number of fixes and balance changes that have not been detailed at this time.
During the second quarter of the year the next update will arrive with two new modes. First of all we have the Passive Mode aimed at players who “prefer a less intense experience”. In this mode, the monsters that often attack fishing boats will not be aggressive, allowing players to focus on fishing and the environment. In second place is the Photo Mode that will do more than just allow you to take snapshots. This mode will be accompanied by a new character who, in addition to helping unlock the ability to use the camera, will give clues on where to find marine animals to photograph.
The latest free update to Dredge’s roadmap will be available in Q3 2023 and will add ship customizations with color schemes and flags. New colors and flags will be unlocked as the shorelines are explored.
During the fourth quarter of the year a “totally optional” additional paid content starring the mysterious Ironhaven Corporation will be released. The intentions of this entity seem good, it seeks to revitalize the area with a drilling platform, but its final objective is not clear. With this DLC, Dredge players will live an adventure in which they will meet new characters, catch new fish and have access to new equipment as they help the corporation establish itself in the archipelago. Little by little, it will be discovered what the Ironhaven Corporation hides.
For those unfamiliar, Dredge is a “single player fishing adventure with a sinister undertow.” At the controls of a ship, players set out to fish across a landscape filled with remote islands as they explore the depths around them. The fish is sold to the locals, while the missions allow you to discover the past of each area. Dredge is available for PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series, Nintendo Switch and PC (Steam, GOG).
