Toyotaro presents the new characters of Dragon Ball Super
At another point in the interview, the Japanese illustrator presented the design and the names of the human characters that will accompany the protagonists in this new story. They stick out that they are high school students and classmates of Trunks. Mai will also attend the same school.

“Trunks’ classmates are students and feel very similar to what you’d find in an American high school. Also, I wanted to create a feeling similar to the parts of the original manga with Gohan in high school, so I made several classmates with that idea,” the mangaka commented.
Finally, Toyotaro comments that the next chapter will see how Mai attends the same school as Trunks, so fans will have more romantic comedy scenes to enjoy.
