DOTA 2: professional disqualified for watching Twitch while playing in major tournament

Although several companies will not go to gamescom 2022, Ubisoft confirms attendance

The DOTA 2 Bali Major was unexpectedly interrupted by something unusual: BetBoom player Ivan ‘Pure’ Moskalenko watched Twitch in the middle of an important game against Tundra Esports. The player was penalized and disqualified, as his actions violate the Dota Pro Circuit rules.

Pure was left out of the DOTA 2 Bali Major for watching Twitch during the tournament

One of the rules of the Dota Pro Circuit is that players are prohibited from watching any type of broadcast while in an official match. On the other hand, players are prohibited from opening applications other than Steam, Teamspeak and of course the game.

According to the details, Pure took advantage of a pause during a match to open Twitch on the team he was playing on and started watching a stream of DOTA 2. The player violated several circuit rules, so he was directly disqualified from the match and the rest of the event.

Their actions had further consequences as BetBoom led Tundra 2-0. However, the victory was vacated and now the Pure team will have to play in the knockout phase. In addition, this almost cost the squad its pass to The International 2023.

BetBoom acknowledged that its player did not respect the rules of the Dota Pro Circuit; however, he believes that the penalty was too severe. So he was dissatisfied with the disqualification of Pure.

“We would like to emphasize that the incident could not have had a serious impact on the nearly 2-hour match, as it happened in the 9th minute,” the team said.

Despite this, those in charge of the tournament decided to stand firm, since after all there was a violation of the official rules. Below is a video showing the moment when Pure opens Twitch.
