The authorities of the self-proclaimed Donetsk People’s Republic (RPD) have once again accused the Ukrainian Army of having used chemical weapons, assuring that they have detected an increase in its use in the Donbas region.
“This is a systemic phenomenon, not isolated cases. There are no deaths so far, but this has certain drawbacks,” DPR Governor Denis Pushilin said in an interview with the Rossiya-24 television channel.
According to Pushilin, his Armed Forces have registered an alleged increase in the use of chemical weapons in cities such as Vuhledar, Artiomovsk or Mayorsk, all this after last week he reported the use of chemical weapons in the vicinity of Bakhmut and Vuglodar.
Likewise, the DPR experts have not yet identified what type of chemical substance the Ukrainian Armed Forces are using, although they know that it causes “coughing, mucous membrane irritation and general malaise.”
Since the outbreak of the war in Ukraine, more than eleven months ago, Russia has denounced on successive occasions that some of the Western powers –mainly the United Kingdom and the United States– were helping Kiev in the development of biological weapons.
However, the United Nations has stepped forward on several occasions to ensure that it is not aware that any biological weapons program is being developed.
