In Mexico, the official explained, 99% of establishments are MSMEs and generate more than 68% of jobs. Hence the importance of including them in the digital world.
Micro, small and medium-sized enterprises are an engine of economic growth, but they face challenges in accessing formal financing, as well as in training and developing business skills to take advantage of the opportunities that are coming their way, pointed out Ana Bárbara Mungaray, head of of Productive Development of the SE.
On the Mipymes Mx page, the Ministry of Economy makes available to micro, small and medium-sized entrepreneurs a series of tools that will allow them to access financing, training and connection with the digital world.
The free workshops are held every Thursday from October 6 to December 1, with topics ranging from tips to take advantage of El Buen Fin -from November 18 to 21-, as well as digital payments and an online store.
The digital transformation “is having an impact on all our activities. It is an issue that will not end and will expand and deepen in the coming years”, said Juan Carlos Altamirano, general director of Productive Development.

Hence the need for MSMEs not only to seek training to be part of a digital world, but also in security issues.
“It is essential that we generate actions to protect MSMEs in cybersecurity issues, and their ventures to micro-entrepreneurs throughout the value chain that implies this great wealth that MSMEs represent for our country,” said the Director General of Productive Development.
That is why the Ministry of Economy has developed a series of courses on cyber security through the platform Digital skills for 21st century women.
The platform offers courses for MSMEs when they sell online, as well as to control network security, develop compliance policies and procedures for data confidentiality. The courses last between 15 and 30 hours, concluded Altamirano.
