In Photodetection equipment is located in 17 departments of the country in Colombiaalso known as ‘fotomulta cameras’, according to data from the National Road Safety Agency (ANSV).

At the cut of December there are 579 devices on different national roads. Lifeguard cameras “are electronic devices that capture evidence that can be used as proof of the occurrence of alleged traffic violations,” explains the ANSV.
These teams do not impose fines or subpoenas. What they do is record suspected traffic violations that are “used by the competent authorities to assess the imposition or not of a fine”.

Bogotá is the city with the highest number of detection cameras with 129 of them. Namely, about 1 in 5 is in the capital. It is followed by Antioquia, with 112, and then Valle del Cauca with 75.
And if it is reviewed by cities, the ones that have the most photodetection devices, after Bogotá, are Medellín (82), Cali (42), Barranquilla (38) and Barrancabermeja (37).
