District warned drivers of private vehicles about the use of platforms

Following the day of dialogue between the taxi drivers’ union and the District Government that took place this Wednesday, July 24, The mayor’s office confirmed its position regarding the provision of transportation services by private vehicles.

The dialogue, which was led by the Secretary of Government, Gustavo Quintero; the Secretary of Mobility Claudia Díaz and the Undersecretary of Security, Alberto Sánchez, gave a warning to drivers of cars and motorcycles who work with platforms.

“The provision of public transport services must be carried out in compliance with the legal conditions in force. Therefore, under no circumstances may private vehicles provide public passenger transport services.“the statement said.

In addition, it emphasizes that the national administration carries out different actions on a daily basis. Control operations on transport services that do not comply with current legal conditionsthrough the group of Traffic Agents of the Mobility Secretariat and the Traffic Police.

The fine for driving private vehicles that work on applications

According to 2024 figures from the Ministry of Mobilityuntil July 15 of this year, more than 7,600 summons orders were generated to punish illegality.

These violations were imposed on citizens who used a private vehicle to provide a service other than that specified in their traffic license, which corresponds to a type D.12 infraction of the National Traffic Code.

This traffic ticket specifies that: “Driving a vehicle that, without proper authorization, is used for a service other than that for which it has a traffic license (…) The vehicle will be immobilized for the first time, for a period of five days, for the second time twenty days and for the third time for forty days.“.

The fine ranges from $173,733 to $1,950,000depending on the type of fine imposed (Type A, B, C, D, and E).

For its part, the District noted that it will maintain the commitment of those attending the meeting to implement the actions, with the aim of improving the quality of service provided to users.
