Through emails sent to subscribers, it has been detailed that this change comes from the Disney+ platform subscription agreement that stipulates the prohibition of this practice.
The company warned that they will begin to actively review Disney+ accounts and take measures to prevent subscriptions from being shared between different households.
Bob Iger, CEO of Disney, said last August that the model to prevent the use of shared passwords on streaming platforms, promoted by Netflix, would arrive in September, however, it will not be until November when the policy comes into effect. In addition to this measure, the general director has said that they will also increase the price of the platform, but it is not yet known if this will affect Mexico or Latin America.
One of the trends that has begun to gain strength in the streaming industry is to restrict the use of shared accounts without an extra cost, something that a few years ago was a very common practice among users. The first company to indicate that it would review the IP from where the content is viewed to verify that it is the same physical space was Netflix.
