Who is Diana Alarcón?

The newly appointed representative of Mexico studied Economics at the UNAMwith a master’s degree and doctorate in Economics from the University of California Riverside, and from 1988 to 1995 she was a researcher in the Department of Economics at the Colegio de la Frontera Norte, of which she was director from 1994 to 1995.

From 2019 to 2023 she was coordinator of Advisors and International Affairs in the Government of CDMX.

Was Foreign Policy coordinator in the Dialogues for Transformationwhich was a platform for the construction of the public policy agenda for the 2024-2030 government period.

In 2018 he held the Deputy Secretary of Academic Information at the Colegio de la Frontera Norte, prior to joining the capital government.

International charges

Between 1995 and 2017 he held various international positions, including the following:

  • Senior economist at the International Labor Office in Geneva, Switzerland.
  • Visiting professor in Economics at the American University in Washington.
  • Senior specialist at the Inter-American Institute for Social Development of the Inter-American Development Bank in Washington.

Likewise, at the UN she served as senior economist at the Department of Economic and Social Affairs in New York, and senior specialist in Poverty Assessment and Indicators at the United Nations Development Program (UNDP), where she was also head of the Unit of Inclusive Development and Poverty Reduction in the Bureau for Development Policies.
