First modification:
In Colombia, the National Liberation Army (ELN) assured that it will support a bilateral ceasefire that opens the way for the resumption of peace talks, this time with the leftist government of Gustavo Petro. Previous attempts at negotiations with the ELN, which has some 2,400 combatants and is accused of financing itself through drug trafficking, illegal mining and kidnapping, have not advanced in part because of dissidence among its ranks.
What is the expectation around these new dialogues in the framework of the so-called “total peace” in Colombia? We discussed it in this edition of El Debate with our guests:
– Iván Cepeda, senator of the ruling Historical Pact.
– Hernán Cadavid, representative to the Chamber for the opposition Democratic Center party.
