Now, the responsible company revealed more information about the commercial performance that the role-playing video game enjoyed during its first month on the market.

More than 10 million people have already played Diablo IV; Blizzard sets a new record
In it earnings report for the second quarter of 2023Activision Blizzard revealed that, at the end of June, Diablo IV “had sold more units than any other Blizzard title at an equivalent stage.” According to the information, more than 10 million people played the title during the month of launch and logged more than 700 million hours of gameplay combined.
The success of the popular dungeon crawler in stores allowed Blizzard to break a new profit record during the second quarter of 2023. During the 3-month period ending on June 30, the company’s revenue grew more than 160% compared to with the same period last year, while operating income tripled.

Finally, Blizzard indicated that the teams have made “great progress” in the upcoming expansions that will bring “important new features” and “continue the acclaimed narrative for many years to come.”
While the dungeon crawler was very successful and boosted the company’s profits, Overwatch 2 experienced a decrease in players and in-game purchases during the last quarter.
