Diablo Immortal welcomes the new Stormtamer class

While players of Diablo IV for PC are enjoying season four like a sparrow in a pond, those of Diablo Immortal for mobile are receiving an update that features the Storm Tamer, a new class that is now available. This master of the sea and sky comes with important changes to the legend system and difficulty levels.

The Stormtamer, a character originally from the Cold Islands, an area far north beyond Ivgorod, is a class that uses dual swords, one of wind and one of water, to control both elements. Ancient tradition says that the Stormtamers live to defend the empire of Pelghain from the storms that have plagued it for centuries, but a group of them believe that their home is cursed forever, while others search for a way to save the lands from the most there. They are all exiled and now travel to the mainland to confront the misfortunes that plague Sanctuary with their double swords.

The gameplay of the Stormtamer, a melee character, is defined by the passive ability Brumado, which causes attacks to conjure a zephyr every so often. The zephyr attacks enemies and mimics several of the Stormtamer’s abilities before dissipating into a misty orb. Picking up a Brumado orb reduces Brumado’s cooldown, but if an ally picks up the Brumado orb, he will boost it, causing his next ability to conjure a zephyr that mimics the attack used. Various abilities can conjure zephyrs, but only 3 can be controlled at a time.

The Stormtamer has arrived accompanied by new specific legendary items that will give life to different builds. Players interested in this class will find five ways to check it out: a brief main story cinematic that allows you to play through the encounter that led to a Stormtamer being exiled; a dungeon to test the new class; a special edition of the Billed Blueprint where you can play as Stormtamer; the option to create a new character and choose the Stormtamer class; and select a character and turn them into Storm Tamers.

The update released today also changes how the legend system works, with the goal of increasing versatility and choice, while simplifying the overall system to make it easier to combine and collect skills that suit different styles of play. Skills will now be combined into 5 different trees, each with 15 skills to choose from. Trees are unlocked sequentially, giving access to more trees as Legend Points are spent unlocking abilities in the currently available trees.

To adapt the game to the new legend system, changes are being made to the Hell and Avernus difficulty levels. The maximum legend level is reduced from 1399 to 299, while the difficulty mode level is reduced from 15 to 4. The Avernus I-VIII and Inferno I-VI difficulties are condensed into 3 Avernus difficulties. “This change reflects the effort to make Diablo Immortal a sustainable game for all types of players now and in the future,” says Blizzard.
