“This evolution [en el modelo de entrega de contenido] “aims to enhance the player experience across a new, multi-year saga by introducing non-linear storytelling, innovation to its gameplay systems, and significant improvements to core activities and rewards,” Bungie said in a statement. This new model will see the light of day with a first expansion now codenamed Apollo, which will feature a non-linear narrative adventure and will be available in the summer of next year. The second expansion codenamed Behemoth will arrive in winter 2025.
“Previously, in stories like The Final Form, the campaign went from A to B to C to D in a nice straight line,” says Alison Lührs, narrative director for Destiny. “In Codename: Apollo, our story unfolds along dozens of threads that you’ll explore and uncover. When you arrive at the new location, the story will begin at A, and then you can choose whether you want to explore C first, get closer to B, or maybe investigate D.” For now, Destiny 2’s upcoming episodes will tie up loose ends, act as an epilogue to the Light and Dark saga, and set the stage for everything to come in the game in 2025.
With this new model, each Destiny 2 expansion will add new stories, quests, locations, weapons, gear, raids, and dungeons. Between expansions, all players will have access to the season and will receive two major content updates with their corresponding pass. Additionally, Bungie will change how seasons work and will try to make Destiny 2 a more accessible game by modernizing its interface.
