A few weeks ago, Blizzard Entertainment held a special event where it revealed, among many other things, the release date of the second Closed Beta of Overwatch 2. This test period began on June 28, but it seems that the community is not very enthusiastic.

In case you didn’t know, the first Beta arrived in mid-April and was a runaway success in its early days, racking up an impressive peak of 1.4 million concurrent viewers on Twitch. This figure represented a new record for the Blizzard franchise.

This is not surprising, as we must remember that users could gain access to the trial period if they watched live broadcasts for a certain number of hours. Just a week after the premiere, however, the popularity of Overwatch 2 dropped 99% on the Amazon platform.

Now with the second Beta between us, we see that the free-to-play title remains far from the most popular categories of Twitch. Is the community not interested?

Closed Beta Didn’t Boost Interest in Overwatch 2 on Twitch Much

As we see in the statistical site SullyGnome (via Dexerto), Blizzard’s free-to-play hero shooter failed to even reach 100,000 concurrent viewers on Amazon’s platform. In fact, we barely noticed an increase in audience on the graph after the premiere of the second test period.

At the time of writing these lines, Overwatch 2 It is not among the 30 most popular categories on Twitch, which is not surprising considering that it only has 14,333 viewers. Of course, during the noon of this Thursday, June 30, it exceeded 40,000 viewers, a very healthy number.

All of the above does not necessarily mean that the Beta of the video game is not successful on the streaming platform. According to data from SullyGnome, there was an increase on all fronts: from average viewership to viewing hours. Likewise, the number of content creators who broadcast the title in recent days increased.

It is important to note that this time around users cannot gain access to the Beta by watching live streams, a situation that surely contributed to the decline in viewers. Blizzard wanted to compensate for this absence with a new exclusive skin that can be obtained by donating subscriptions to a select group of streamers.

But tell us, what do you think of this situation? Let us read you in the comments.

Overwatch 2 It will be available for PC, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5 and Nintendo Switch starting October 4. You will find more news about him if you visit this page.
