The crisis in the video game industry does not only mean layoffs, cancellations and closures from one moment to the next. It also means that some agreements fall apart. Such is the case of the studio responsible for one of the franchises that has gained recognition in recent years, which was caught in the middle of the Embracer Group debacle but which, for special reasons, will stay with the former European giant.
4A Games and Metro will remain with Embracer and will not be sold to Saber Interactive
According to a report by the journalist of Bloomberg Jason Schreier4A Games, studio responsible for the successful saga Metrowill not be acquired by Saber Interactive and will remain the property of Embracer. In case you didn’t know, 6 months ago when the European conglomerate decided to sell Saber, the publisher expressed its interest in keeping the creators of the FPS franchise inspired by the literary work of Dmitry Glukhovsky. However, although the operation seemed a done deal, it will not take place.
In this regard, Jason Schreier’s report notes: “Saber CEO Matt Karch told me in a statement this morning ‘it was always our intention to acquire 4A, but we thought it would be best for all parties’ for the studio to remain with Embracer.”
Currently, 4A Games is working on the new installment of Metro And last year it was revealed that the title in question is already playable from start to finish, so this has given way to the rest of the production and polishing work. However, there is no further information about the project and there are fears of a delay due to the crisis that is hitting the industry since it is a AAA production whose costs could have risen considerably, so we have to wait to find out if the Ukrainian studio has more news about the new release of this IP.
