denounced for possible sexual harassment used "illegally credentials"

() — The Government of Colombia is still waiting for the secretariat of the COP27 climate summit, which is being held in Sharm El-Sheikh, Egypt, to confirm the names of the two people denounced for alleged sexual harassment and that they would have been part of the delegation representing the country South American at the event, Interior Minister Alfonso Prada said Sunday.

The official suggested, however, that they were possibly individuals who used “Colombian credentials illegally.”

In a series of messages posted on Twitter, Prada confirmed that the leadership of the summit “requested the Foreign Ministry [de Colombia] suspend accreditation of 2 people registered in the Colombian delegation, made up of 201 people including government officials, civil society, businessmen and representatives of other branches of power”.

According to Colombia’s interior minister, the accusations are not related “to government officials, let alone members of the presidential delegation.” He added that, for the moment, they have managed to confirm that one of the names of those indicated belongs to a person who “never traveled to COP27, so they could use Colombian credentials illegally.”

“Only when the COP27 Secretariat reconfirms names and we verify the full identity of the people, and that they are actually Colombians and have participated in the events, we will make the other information public, in accordance with the law,” Prada said.

The official’s statements come a day after the Colombian Foreign Ministry reported that two members of the delegation representing Colombia at the climate conference had been placed under investigation in Egypt for alleged sexual harassment.

Neither Prada nor the Colombian Ministry of Foreign Affairs have provided more information about those indicated or the circumstances for which the investigation was opened.

has tried since this Saturday to obtain more details of the case with the organizers of COP27, but the requests for information sent have not been answered.
