MADRID 19 Oct. () –
The Government of Denmark announced this Friday that it will allocate 2.4 billion Danish crowns (321 million euros) in military support to Ukraine, to help reinforce its air defense systems as well as to purchase new weapons and equipment.
As announced by the Ministry of Defense in a statement, this allocation is part of the package of 64.8 billion crowns (8.688 million euros) that Denmark will allocate until 2028 to help Ukraine in its military conflict with Russia.
“Ukrainians continue to fight relentlessly against (Vladimir) Putin’s brutal attacks on the country. Therefore, it is important that Denmark continues to show its support for Ukraine. The 21st donation package has been prepared with the aim of providing all military support to the urgent needs of Ukrainians and, at the same time, supports Denmark’s ambition to support the long-term development of Ukraine’s defense capability,” said Danish Defense Minister Troels Lund Poulsen.
The aid package includes, among other things, an increase in the Industrial Fund – intended for purchases to meet Ukrainian military needs – of 500 million crowns (67 million euros), financing of air defense systems, some donations of the stocks of the Armed Forces and training activities.
The Danish authorities have defended this new assignment for the Ukrainian Armed Forces, previously consulted with the Foreign Policy Committee of the Danish Parliament, claiming that their “fight is the fight of all free Europe.”
“I am pleased that, together with close European allies, we are once again addressing the urgent needs of Ukraine,” celebrated Foreign Minister Lars Lokke Rasmussen, assuring that he will support Ukraine in its defense against the “illegal and brutal” attacks. of Russia “as long as necessary.”
