Deliveroo cools forecasts after slowing the growth of the gross value of operations (GTV)

July 18 () –

The food delivery platform Deliveroo has revised downwards its growth forecast for the gross value of operations (GTV) for the whole of fiscal year 2022, which it now estimates in a range between 4% and 12% , compared to the previous range of between 15% and 25%, without taking into account the impact of the exchange rate, the company reported.

However, the company has confirmed its adjusted gross operating profit (Ebitda) margin guidance for 2022 in a range of -1.5% to -1.8% of GTV, compared to -2% in fiscal year 2021 and -3.2% in the second half of 2021.

In the first six months of the year, the platform registered a year-on-year growth of 7% in GTV, to 3,560 million pounds sterling (4,187 million euros).

However, in the second quarter, the growth of this reference was limited to 2% from the 12% observed in the first three months of the year.

Specifically, in the second quarter, Deliveroo’s GTV growth in the UK and Ireland slowed to 4% from 12% in the first quarter, while internationally it was 1% instead of 11% in the first quarter.

“This is a slowdown in GTV growth compared to the first quarter of 2022, which management believes reflects the impact of higher consumer headwinds during the second quarter,” the company explained.

In this sense, he added that, in the second quarter of 2022, the growth of orders was 3% year-on-year, while the GTV per order decreased slightly from the previous year, when the sizes of the orders increased during the closings still effective for part of the second quarter of 2021.
